Protected Landscape Area Poodří (Ostrava-Polanka nad Odrou, Svinov)
Whole area of the Protected Landscape Area: 8,150 ha. It is situated not only within Ostrava Town (one tenth of the area), but also in the Frýdek-Místek and Nový Jičín Districts.
A harmoniously formed landscape park with lots of dispersed green, including the naturally meandering flow of the Odra river with systems of both permanent and periodical pools, floodplain forests, swamps of international importance - recorded in the Ramsar Convention's on Wetlands list. Several pond systems and the biggest system of alluvial meadows in the Czech Republic; important ornithological area from the European point of view within the framework of the Project ICBP.
